National Cancer Survivor Day:
Today marks a special day for cancer survivors. It is a national day for all survivors to celebrate. What constitutes a survivor? Someone that is cured of the disease? Someone that is currently in remission? Someone that is “NED” no evidence of disease? Anyone that has had or is currently battling cancer? Lots of debate could arise out of the statement “survivor”. I choose to think of it as any “Cancer Warrior” out there past or present, living or past. So for me today is a celebration of ALL cancer warriors.
“CANCER WARRIOR DAY”!
In the past, I have always thought of my cancer day as my diagnosis day. My Cancerversary. That day will forever remain a dark day of my life. So many things have happened since that day. Both for the good as well as the bad. But one thing that is for sure, I do not approach my living days the same anymore. I do not take things for granted and I try to not take the support and kindness for granted of the people around me. I am very thankful for the time I have been given to experience this life and the many great things it has to offer.
Thank you to all my “CANCER WARRIOR” friends out there. I don’t know that I could have made it this far in my journey if it were not for some of my cancer warrior friends. As I have said in other blog posts, this journey is a roller coaster ride. Full of so many ups and downs. We all need a lift in some way to make it to the top of the next hill.
To all “CANCER WARRIORS” out there, I SALUTE YOU!
CHEERS,
Darren Ward
